Big Sur - Wood Nymph Styled Shoot

Big Sur will forever hold a special place in my heart!  My husband and I first discovered this little gem a few years back when we were on our way home from shooting in San Francisco and we decided to drive down on the coast instead of taking the 101 like we usually do.  Not too long after we passed through Carmel, we lost all our cell phone service so we weren't 100% sure where we were but we knew if we just kept on driving we would eventually get there.  All of a sudden appeared these beautiful majestic redwood trees all along the road and little cabin like inns.  When we started seeing names like "Big Sur River Inn" and "Glen Oaks Big Sur" we knew we had made it!  This place seriously just feels magic!

When we got home, I planned a weekend trip there as soon as we could possibly find a hotel opening at Deetjen's Big Sur Inn...  That hotel had a particular air about it that made it impossible to want to stay anywhere else for our first trip to Big Sur.  When we went back for that trip a few months later, we hiked up to Pfieffer Falls as soon as we got into town, and before I knew it, Wade was down on one knee proposing in front of the beautiful waterfall shaded by these gorgeous redwoods!  My heart was bursting with joy and ever since then... you could say I've been a little obsessed with Big Sur.

We were married a little over a year later, and decided to do a North Coast road trip for our honeymoon, with our first stop being Big Sur, and also traveling to beautiful towns such as Napa, Mendocino and Portland.  We explored all the joys that Big Sur had to offer and decided that I would have to plan a dream photo shoot there soon.  And about 6 months later, we did just that!

This time we decided to camp and really take it all in.  I wish I could just live under those redwood trees forever (and I swear one day we will)!  I poured my heart into every aspect of this shoot, from coming up with the concept, to learning how to sew to make the dress, to crafting her wood nymph crown, to completing the look with hair and makeup.  This styled bridal shoot brings me so much joy whenever I think of it, I can't wait to go back to Big Sur to create magic again!!
